AI meeting notes tools that are SOC 2 compliant
Last verified 2026-10-10Paid placement never changes our picks.
Short answer
As of October 2026, start with Fathom if you want a free plan for recording calls, Granola if you do not want a bot joining meetings, and Avoma if your sales team needs coaching and CRM sync. The main catch: SOC 2 claims are vendor statements, so ask for the current report, and signed BAAs are usually Enterprise-only.

Homepage badges SOC 2 Type 2, but the only public report we found covers 2023 to 2024.
Prices come from each tool's fact block. "See pricing page" means we have not confirmed the number on the official pricing page in the last 30 days, so we do not show one.
How to choose
- If IT must approve the tool → ask for the current SOC 2 Type II report and its audit period, not a badge; Avoma says it shares its report on request, and the only public Read AI report we found covers April 2023 to March 2024.
- If you handle health data → you need a signed BAA: Fathom and Fellow state BAAs on Enterprise, while Otter, Fireflies and Read AI mention HIPAA without a stated BAA.
- If no bot may join your calls → Granola (bot-free notepad) or Fathom's bot-free capture mode.
- If data use matters as much as the audit → check training and hosting separately: Fellow states no AI training on customer data, Avoma hosts in the United States, and most others do not state residency.
- If you want to start free → Fathom (unlimited recordings, other caps unstated), Otter (300 minutes a month) or Read AI (5 transcripts a month).

Where sources disagree
- What 'SOC 2 compliant' means: Vendors use badges, blog posts or trust centers. Only an auditor's report shows Type I or Type II and the audit period, and we read none, so every claim here is the vendor's own.
- HIPAA wording: 'Follows HIPAA', 'HIPAA compliant' and 'signed BAA' are different promises. Only Fathom and Fellow state a BAA on their pages; others show HIPAA badges without one.
- Otter's evidence and price: Otter's SOC 2 Type II statement comes from a 2025 blog post because its security page returned no compliance text. A lower Pro price on the page applies only to India-issued cards.
- Price labels: Fireflies shows struck-through prices without saying they are monthly, and Avoma's pricing page gives two different annual prices for one plan. We publish only monthly-billed figures we could confirm.
