It can reduce manual note-taking, but it also creates recordings, transcripts, summaries, and connected-system data that need consent, access control, retention rules, and human verification.

This review was updated on September 8, 2026 from tl;dv's current product, privacy, security, and consent documentation. We did not run a controlled transcription-accuracy or integration benchmark, so language counts, security claims, and workflow behavior below are vendor-documented.

Consent must come before recording

Recording laws differ across countries and states, and employment or customer contexts can add further duties. Notify participants clearly, explain the purpose, obtain the required consent, offer a real way to decline, and document the decision before recording starts.

tl;dv documents an optional consent-collection feature that can replace a calendar meeting link with a pre-join consent page. Its own guidance says the feature requires a fully synchronized calendar and automatic recording, and that manually starting early can bypass the consent flow. Test the exact configuration rather than assuming that a visible bot or platform banner establishes consent.

Privacy, AI, and security claims

The July 2026 privacy policy describes how Tldx Solutions GmbH processes, stores, transfers, and deletes personal data. The company's security page says customer data is not used to train its AI, describes metadata anonymization and chunked processing with Anthropic, lists encryption measures, and states SOC 2 Type II and GDPR compliance.

These are vendor claims. A production review should obtain the applicable data-processing agreement, current SOC 2 report, subprocessor list, hosting choices, breach process, deletion behavior, and any private-AI terms directly from the vendor. Certification of an infrastructure provider does not automatically certify every product workflow.

Safe rollout checklist

1. Define which meetings may never be recorded, such as privileged, clinical, disciplinary, security, or highly confidential calls.
2. Test consent collection across internal users, external invitees, forwarded links, mobile joining, late arrivals, and manual starts.
3. Use a representative meeting to measure transcript and summary errors, then require people to confirm decisions and action owners.
4. Set the shortest workable retention period and restrict download, public links, clips, and workspace sharing.
5. Review every integration's read and write scopes and prevent sensitive meetings from entering broad CRM or knowledge indexes.
6. Test deletion across recordings, transcripts, summaries, integrations, backups, and exported copies.
7. Document an offboarding process for accounts, shared links, API access, calendar connections, and stored meetings.

Pricing and plan selection

tl;dv offers a free tier and paid plans with different automation, integration, administration, and sales-intelligence capabilities. Pricing and allowances change. Choose only after testing the live plan against participant count, recording volume, languages, CRM needs, security requirements, retention controls, and total seats.

Bottom line

tl;dv is a broad meeting-intelligence product rather than a simple recorder. It is most valuable when teams need searchable notes and controlled downstream workflows. The deciding factors should be consent reliability, transcription quality, access and deletion controls, integration behavior, and the time humans still spend correcting outputs.
